Praying for Our Country

When was the last time you got together with other Christians and prayed for our country?

Yesterday, in Charlotte, North Carolina, churches of many denominations joined together at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater to pray for spiritual awakening in our country.  People signed the Declaration of National Spiritual Emergency.  For hours people came to pray, cry out to God, and to cry over their own failure to put God first in their lives.  The Church (followers of Christ) must wake up and speak up for the truth.

Jesus did not come into the world and die to start some Sunday morning garden club type church.  ‘If anyone wants to come after me, let him take up his cross and follow me.’ He made it plain if we try to save our lives, we lose them, but if we lose our lives for him and the Gospel, we save them.  It is time to awaken from our Christian slumber. It is time for us to awaken from church as usual.  The Jesus revolution is not one of violence, it is not one of hatred,…It is one of love… It is where WE lay down OUR lives for those who are hurting. It is one that turns darkness into light…..This is not some type of pop event.  This is solemn.  Are you willing to follow Jesus unto death?”

Help us to display faithfulness to the world, Lord, faithfulness to your Word, faithfulness to your teachings, and faithfulness to your people Lord.”
