God’s Word – Settled – Fixed – Never to be Shaken

12/03/2014

Forever, O Lord,
Your word is settled in heaven.

Psalm 119:89 (NKJV)

 Forever, O Lord, your word
is firmly fixed in the heavens.

Psalm 119:89 (ESV)

What I like about the Bible passage above, is that it tells us God’s word (which includes his many promises) is FIXED in heaven, it is SETTLED.  In other words, his word to us, his promises to us, his plans and intentions can never be changed or altered or stolen or destroyed.  They are as permanent as God is.  We can, as the old saying goes, “hang our hat” on them.

God has given us many promises…..
Draw near to me and I will draw near to you.
I will never leave you or forsake you.
I am with you always.
I have a plan for you.
I will prosper you.
I will guide you.
I will protect you.
I will provide for you.
I will be your guide, your shield, your rampart.
I will hold you in my arms.
I will bring you home to be with me forever.
And so many more.

When you read God’s word, the Bible, you can trust it and “hang your hat” on it.

God created by speaking. He created with words.

Whether we are leading our children into a deeper relationship with the Lord, or are sowing seeds for God to harvest later, we are about sharing God’s word with the world.  When you consider we have God within us (the Holy Spirit) you can be certain that we have the privilege of bringing God’s word to the ears of those he has prepared to hear.

Hopefully, God will greet each of us as we enter heaven with these words, “Well done, my good and faithful servant.”

And so we keep humbly praying, studying, and sharing as we allow God to use us this side of heaven.

God will use you, too, if you let him.
